yesterday or a few days ago a site started specifically for gen x -exjws.
it caters to those born in the 60s to around 70s and some 80s yesterday it had 2 members, today it has 102 members.
keep in mind that for most of these gen x, there was no internet, no mobile phone, heck, i don't think there was even cable tv.
i remember meeting one young lady at a circuit assembly--we went for a nice quiet walk well away from prying eyes--she grabbed me and ate my face. It was true love !
Next weekend it was the neighbouring circuits assembly--so several of us likely lads went to that one too. She was there as well!--But with another guy !
We often bumped into each other at the many jw teenagers parties that were all the thing in the UK in the late 60's..she was always good for a grope.

I looked forward to assemblies..a chance to meet new girls i hadnt met before. Usually a party somewhere afterwards.

Last time i had dubs at my door..pre covid...i asked them why their hall hsd been sold off....the reply was to build halls in afica.

in 1971 the elders "arrangement" was being rolled out in the UK. One sunday i was to do the public talk that afternoon--i had only glanced through the printed script and just couldnt be bothered with it all anymore. I phoned the congregation servant ( former branch servant somewhere ) and asked to see him there and then.
After a few mins into the meet up--i told him how i felt about it all--and he thanked me for telling him--as he was about to recommend me as an elder ! FFS--i was 23--and had absolutely no interest in the daft cult anymore ! So much for spirit directed .
Now i just had to explain it to the wife--a pregnant 3rd generation born in . That was the start of 10 years of marital misery.

i was brought up in it--baptised at 14--pioneer at 16--servant at 19..married at 20.
when my wife was pregnant with our first--i was 23--and i had my first long hard think about the blood issue--and it hit me i had no belief in the resurrection or everlasting life--and had zero interest in god, angels demons and all that clap trap.
it took me another 8 years to break away completely. that was 40 years ago.
atheist makes life so much easjer.
